Gongs

Gongs are among the wirld's most ancient musical instruments.

Since the depths of time, they have had a deep psychological meaning attributed to them. In music, Gongs with their indescribable sound colors, have always played a prominent role.

Les Gongs appartiennent à la famille la plus ancienne et la plus la plus importante des instruments musicaux de l' Asie du Sud Est. Leur origine peut être retracée au deuxième millénaire avant J.C, mais il est supposé que le Gong est beaucoup plus ancien . Dans l' histoire Chinoise, les Gongs sont mentionnés vers500 après J.C, attribué à une nation appelée HSI YU entre le Tibet et la Birmanie sous le règne de l' empereur Hsuan WU.

La recherche historique nous donne quatre principaux centres - Birmanie, Chine, Annam, Java - avec au moins sept formes de Gong et structures sonores issues de ces régions. Seules quelques familles connaissaient la tradition de fabrication des Gongs et la transmettaient de génération en génération. L' art de fabrication des Gongs a été voilée comme quelque chose de magique. Les fabricants de Gongs croyaient qu' un Gong ne pouvait être réussi uniquement avec l' aide des puissances supérieures, et qu' ils étaient plus exposés à ces forces que les humains ordinaires.

Le Gong est un élément important dans la vie des personnes en Extrème-Orient et encore dans certains pays aujourd' hui. Dans les familles asiatiques, le Gong est un signe de richesse et a servi pour affirmer un statut. Dans les rites, le Gong a été utilisé dans l' évocation de fantômes et la conjuration de démons. Toucher un Gong apportait la fortune et la force. A ce jour, dans les rituels de l' Extrème-Orient, le Gong a conservé son importance.

Comme un instrument de musique, le timbre accompagnait les fêtes, les cérémonies funéraires, des chansons et des pièces de théâtre. Dans la musique des hautes cultures asiatiques, le Gong a été utilisé comme un instrument d' orchestre. Les orchestres utilisant les Gongs et jouant jusqu' à dix-huit notes n' étaient pas rares. Ils étaient également utilisés dans des concerts privés.
Depuis environ 1790, les Gongs ont été utilisés dans des orchestres Européens. Depuis lors, les termes "Tam Tam" pour les Gongs plats, et "Gong" pour Gong à bosse, sont devenus coutumiers. Toutefois le terme approprié dans toutes les langues est celui de GONG.

It seems that hearing these instruments wipes away fatigue, giving us a new energy and a revived impetus to perform every daily task.

Scientists have also found proof that sound vibrations do in fact amplify, accelerate and galvanise the energy that awakens and can thus become constructive.

There is also evidence that the sounds of Gongs affect pulsations within human beings; pulsations existing from birth.

An interaction is thus established between the two phenomena (sounds and body pulsations) through which every bodily dynamic expresses itself and integrates better, leading the individual towards greater harmony and increased inner balance. Gongs, their sounds, and their vibrations thus help each human being to listen to his own body to discover and learn how to approach these complex and mysterious mechanisms.

Touching a gong so that it makes a sound immediately produces a sort of association in a person's subconscious between the vibrations that they have provoked and their own emotional reactions, whether indistinct or not. A particular sound or vibration will therefore awaken and consciously specify a particular feeling or emotion, whether old, recent or instantaneous.

Once someone can look inside himself and see a particular reaction as if looking from the outside, they can establish a distance from it in order to control or channel it.
